Tho­mas Furth­ner is a care­er offi­cer in the Aus­tri­an Army. He has ser­ved in the Aus­tri­an Spe­cial Ope­ra­ti­ons Force Unit the Jagd­kom­man­do for more than ten years.

His deploy­ments include Chad, Cen­tral Afri­can Repu­blic, Koso­vo and Afgha­ni­stan. He was pos­ted to the NATO Spe­cial Ope­ra­ti­ons Head­quar­ters in Mons, Bel­gi­um, for two years. Curr­ent­ly, he is assi­gned to a ter­ri­to­ri­al command.

He holds a master´s degree in mili­ta­ry lea­der­ship from the Natio­nal Defence Academy.
